Welcome to the making of a new movie—”FRIENDS IN OTHER DIMENSIONS”—filming the last weekend of this month, 9/28, 9/29, and 9/30/07. It’s about how bands and fans form a transdimensional network of friends. It stars the 14 Year Old Girls and 25 of L.A.’s best underground bands. I’m directing the movie, which is half live performance/half scripted. The story is written by Andrew of the 14 Year Old Girls, and Bret Berg. FIOD is to be released by our friends in this dimension, the Retard Disco label, next year.

Now I’m inviting YOU to contribute your art, acting and organizational skills.

Each Monday in September, we will be meeting and building costumes and sets. And since this is a MUSIC movie, we will have a band or two and a guest DJ to put us in the right mood.

Everyone who helps out on movie prep nights gets their names in the credits of the finished film. They also get free beer or soda. No tools necessary!

I have gotten so many supportive emails! Please stop down and check out what we are doing this Monday and you can sign up to do camera, or lighting or be an associate producer :)

Admission is $5 and the building starts at 8pm. Music is at 11pm.

Wow—what a great/hot/sweaty/rockin’/fun night this was!

BIG DISCLAIMER: I went as a civilian (Sean Carney?), and I REALLY enjoyed the music. I guess I should have stood near the stage between sets in order to secure a good photo position, but I didn’t… Thus, I could not get many good photos—the Smell was SO packed! Damn. Anyhow, I loved the music, heard ALL the bands (a nice change from Pehr when I’m running around watching the door/parking lot/etc.) and was thrillled to see how many people came out to support these great artists. So, no regrets—I thoroughly enjoyed the show!!!!

The Mae Shi!!! This was the best show I ever heard them play—I was blown away! Fantastic music!!!

I kept photographing the backs of peoples’ heads… This show was packed!!!

Health!!! Damn, I just could not get up to the stage… To think that, not long ago, they played for just a few handfuls of people… This is an all-time great L.A. band—it is awesome how many people are grooving on them!!!

Margot’s DJing made the work fun and we painted to the beat!

Bipolar Bear was a last minute addition to the show…. But then their new drummer threw his back out Monday afternoon, and The Pope (Bipolar Julian’s other group) took their place. Wow! The Pope rules!! This was a very special show because Julian and Watson stopped performing together many months ago. Nice to see/hear this rad band once again!!! Great job, guys.
