NEW PHOTOS: HEALTH DEBUT CD RELEASE PARTY WITH THE MAE SHI, CLIPD BEAKS, & KYLE H. MABSON AT THE SMELL!!!

Wow—what a great/hot/sweaty/rockin’/fun night this was!

BIG DISCLAIMER: I went as a civilian (Sean Carney?), and I REALLY enjoyed the music. I guess I should have stood near the stage between sets in order to secure a good photo position, but I didn’t… Thus, I could not get many good photos—the Smell was SO packed! Damn. Anyhow, I loved the music, heard ALL the bands (a nice change from Pehr when I’m running around watching the door/parking lot/etc.) and was thrillled to see how many people came out to support these great artists. So, no regrets—I thoroughly enjoyed the show!!!!

Clipd Beaks!!! Like I said, this was a great show for rad music, but not for rad photos… it was so packed I couldn’t get anywhere near the front!

The Mae Shi!!! This was the best show I ever heard them play—I was blown away! Fantastic music!!!

I kept photographing the backs of peoples’ heads… This show was packed!!!

Health!!! Damn, I just could not get up to the stage… To think that, not long ago, they played for just a few handfuls of people… This is an all-time great L.A. band—it is awesome how many people are grooving on them!!!

NEW PIX: CLIPD BEAKS, ANAVAN, LATE SEVERA WIRES & ANCHORS FOR ARCHITECTS ROCK PEHRSPACE!!!

THAT WAS A GREAT SHOW LAST NIGHT! Pehrspace is the place to be ;)

Thank you to everyone who came to the show. The audience made the night! Pehr was packed and everyone was dancing.

Speaking of Pehr… Adam, Darren and Andrew are truly awesome. Andrew even made programs for the evening. I hope you were lucky enough to get one (he had two awesome zines, also).

Anchors For Architects were sublime. As regular readers may know, I love Amon Duul 2 (esp. “Phallus Dei” i.e. God’s dick) and Polvo, so the AFA sound really rocked me.

Late Severa Wires were equally amazing. Free rock! People are already recognizing them for the all-time classic group they are.

Same goes for Clipd Beaks: classic! They are a total rock BAND, working together to get the music and the crowding to the brink of chaos.

Anavan writes great dance songs …and you can sing along while the trio smashes those same songs into oblivion! YOWZA!! Anavan was on fire, everybody had a great time, and we are going to do it all again on Monday, so don’t miss it!

CLIPD BEAKS & INDIAN JEWELRY AT PART-TIME PUNKS

I got a ride to the show with Kyle. We met up with the Robin Williams On Fire folks at the Echo. Then, all of them were denied entry because the club is now 21 and over…only. LAME.

So I bid them adieu and hung with Jon, Christina, Bret and the Heath guys. I rocked out to Clipd Beaks, shot some video, had a whole mess ‘o drinks (Seannie has been in the house for months and needed a party… yeah!), and grooved to Indian Jewelry—who were cloaked in darkness, and impossible to photograph.

In the crowd: Don Bolles, DJ Prickle of Club Screwball fame, and many friends… This was a fun night. Cheers!
