NEW MONDAY PHOTOS: TUSCO TERROR, HUMAN HANDS, MAT BRINKMAN, DJ DOG DICK, SISPRUM VISH, CASY JAMES, LITTLE TEETH & RIGHT HAND BAND ROCK SEAN CARNAGE NIGHT AT PEHR!!!

31.jpg
This was a crazy, overbooked night… Can you tell it’s the end of the year and I need a vacation!?

Despite the massive volume of bands, we heard some AMAZING new music and we all got home before dawn so, hey, not bad!

My favorites of the night were: Human Hands, Tusco Terror, DJ Dog Dick, Sisprum Vish, Casy James and Right Hand Band. It was kind of a folk/noise mash-up this night and it worked wonderfully, in my opinion.

Thanks to Kyle who helped keep everything on track (and sounding great) and also our new friend Hector, who helped watch the door and also shot some video (see below in he photos section). You guys are the best!

NEW PHOTOS: ALPH’S WAREHOUSE BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!

43.jpg

This was a cool warehouse party to celebrate the 21st birthday of Monday night regular Alph!!! It was at his amazing warehouse north of Chinatown. Damn… It felt like I was back home in Cleveland (if y’all have ever wondered what the Rust Belt is like, take a walk in Lincoln Heights… and imagine snow falling).

Alph is the nicest guy… and a fucking rocking solo artist, as it turns out. Wow! He constructed these long bass loops and then made all manner of noise on top. It reminded me of some of the best of those old Melvins solo records (esp. Joe Preston’s) or vintage Godhead Silo. It’s funny how just a little repetition makes noise so much more exciting (for rock fans like me, at least). Bravo, Alph!

I missed Halloween Swim Team and Little Teeth and a few others… I had to crash!! But before I bid a hasty retreat (to catch up on 2+ weeks of missed sleep to make FRIENDS IN OTHER DIMENSIONS), I marvelled at Brooke’s “carpool” (a Honda Accord she converted into a pool—complete with ladder and chlorine-floater thingy) and was even reunited with…. Nandor!??!?!?!?? Holy shit! More on this later. In the meantime:

NEW MONDAY PIX: GOWNS, WHITMAN, JOHN THILL, & LITTLE TEETH TOTALLY ROCK!!!

26.jpg
The music never ends—we returned movie equipment all day and I was super super tired but excited for my Monday night show. Sean Carnage Mondays in October are a return to (ab)normalcy with no movie production or band residencies until Bizzart hosts in mid-November.

Monday’s show did not disappoint: the Gowns debuted their brand new four-piece line-up at my show. WOW!!!! This band has become so incredible… I could not budge from my position by the soundboard for their entire set, the music affected me so much. Kudos to the group for such a fine performance!!!

It was great to see Mandy back again!!!! She brought Little Teeth down from the Bay Area and they were very good—and nice folks, too. John Thill slayed everyone with his songs and Chris Whitman (& Kyle Mabson) sounded really amazing—I stood and listened to all the bands because they were all so musical and awesome!

This FRIDAY… don’t miss this amazing party! I will be there and you should be, too
